Blueshark Grinding Discs for Steel & Metal 180x6x22.23mm Brief Testing

Blueshark Grinding Discs for Steel & Metal 180x6x22.23mm Brief Testing

One of our Mexico customer sent us some samples of 180x6x22.23mm / 7x1/4x7/8 inch , those discs produced by one famous brand company in Mexico. We have done some testing and find the density really high and discs be very " Hard".  This style grinding discs little difference like us- normally our customers like the discs be little " SOFT" with very smooth & fast grinding ability and comfortable hand-feeling . This just the difference between EURO and Latin America market consume style.

After study the samples, we have made some samples and the brief testing data as below.  We already sent the samples for our Mexico customer testing and got OK feedback.

Below is some brief testing datas.         abrasives youtube  Find more testing videos

Testing Discs = Blueshark Grinding Discs for Steel  180x6x22.23 mm ( 7x1/4x7/8 inch )
Produce Time = Oct, 2013  (  made according to customers samples )
Work-picec = Carbon Steel  45#
Powertools Data:  Bosch 180mm

Total Testing Time : 10  Mins
Discs Weight Loss = 383.10g - 375.3g= 7.8g
Work-piece Weight Loss = 1792.80-1553.50=176.3g
G. Ratio = 176.3 / 7.8 = 22.6
S.G.Ratio = 176.3 / 10= 17.63g/min

Conclusion: High G.ration than ours normal standard also with the good hand-feelings.

Pay attention to the shape of abrasives wheel edge wearing down!

abrasives wheels edge shape

Do you know?  sometimes inspect the abrasives wheels edge wearing shape can help you know well if the wheels do good job.  Normally the shape can classify to below sharp:

A. ROUND Shape - If the wheels wearing down in this shape, that's means you using the correct cutting wheels.

B.SQUARE Shape - This shape also proved correct cutting wheels choosen and also comes from cutting works especially when cut small solids, structural shapes, pipe and tubing.

C.CONCAVE Shape - Normal when using the correct wheel to cut tubing and thin-wall sections.

D.POINTED Shape -  The abrasives on two-sides wearing down so fast- this indicates the wheel is too hard and most abrasives fly away by crush with the work-piece surface.

E. CHISEL Shape - Wet cutting problem. Usually indicates wrong application of coolant. May cause breakage and crooked cuts.

F. SIDE-GLAZED Shape  - Also indicates wheel is too hard or cutting too slow. Requires excessive pressure and higher power to cut.

Blueshark Abrasives Basic Stainless Steel Surface Process Solution

Because of the high toughness and low thermal conductivity, stainless steel is very difficult material to machine. Also the Stainless steel polishing and grinding is known as one of the most difficult projects because most stainless steel polishing requires a mirror-finish.

Abrasives Discs are the most tools for processing stainless steel surface especially for weld treatment.  The basic Stainless Steel surface process follow below three step and it's very important for choose correct abrasives in each step.  Blueshark manufacturer & supply professional abrasives solution for add value to your every step workings.

How to measure grinding discs performance?

For supply stable performance abrasives discs to customers, we will carry regular testing of our grinding discs everyday and below is the general way for measure our grinding discs performance:

grinding discs  stainless steel work piece
1) Measure the grinding discs and work-piece weight before testing ( DW1 , WW1 )

grinding wheels
2) Run the grinding discs grind the work-piece in a formulary time.
3) Measure the grinding discs and work-piece weight after testing ( DW2 , WW2 )

grinding discs and wheels
4) Calculate the G.Ratio index.

G.Ratio = (WW1-WW2) / (DW1-DW2)

The G.Ratio more bigger, means the grinding discs can do more grinding works.

But G.Ratio is not the absolute index when measure the grinding discs  performance, there are also others factors such like grinding speed, hand-feeling, vibration, etc to judge the comprehensive performance of grinding discs.

For example: A grinding discs can remove 100g work-piece in 10 minutes and itself weight consume 10g, the G.ratio=100g/10g=10,  B grinding discs can remove 200g work-piece in 10 minutes but itself weight consume 25g, the G.weight=200g/25g=8.   If only said G.ratio, seems the A is better than B, but we must see that - the B ginding discs have higher working efficence and will save your working time and labor cost.

We can adjust our grinding discs be most suitable for your grinding applications according to customers' feedback.  Just Contact us get your best grinding solution.
